About this role
We are seeking an Assistant Finance Manager (Revenue) to join our expanding Finance team. You will report to and work directly with the Revenue Manager as a key member of the team in leading revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS 15. You will be responsible for developing more efficient revenue close processes, and crucially improving the reconciliation of revenue and cost of sales. You will provide direction on technical revenue accounting issues and drive internal and external reporting related to revenue accounting. This is a challenging and rewarding role in which you will be relied upon to use your problem solving skills to resolve difficult reconciliation issues and provide meaningful analysis.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject matter expert on the treatment of revenue (including direct cost, e.g. media cost) accounting under IFRS15
- Research accounting guidance and ownership of technical memos documenting the Company’s position on revenue recognition
- Management of the revenue reconciliation reports and other processes within the revenue close cycle
- Work closely with our data and engineering team to improve revenue reporting from source systems
- Establish and maintain appropriate company revenue recognition policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure revenue and cost of sales are properly recorded and reported in accordance with IFRS15 equivalent
- Work closely with the Company’s external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are adhered to and monitored. Manage the preparation of schedules and reports in support of annual audit ensuring that all deadlines are met.
- Drive process improvement and automation efforts to streamline revenue reconciliation and accounting
- Collaborate with various teams across the Company, such as Operations, Payments to resolve revenue related issues and with the Financial Planning and Analysis team to derive insights from analysis
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of key revenue data
Together with the team, you will be responsible for all aspects of revenue reconciliation and reporting, including but not limited to, and in no particular order:
- Monitoring IFRS 15 compliance
- Establishing and maintaining company revenue recognition policies, procedures and internal controls
- Managing the associated balance sheet accounts including cash, accounts receivable, and deferred revenue
Required Skills:
- Preferably 5+ years of high-tech company experience in revenue recognition accounting, preferably in a SaaS business.
- Must have knowledge of and experience with IFRS15 or ASC 606 equivalent
- CPA qualification with Big 4 experience
- Experience in tools like Alteryx, Power BI, Tableau preferred
- Intermediate/advanced Excel skills and ability to work with large volumes of transactional data
- Quantitative, analytical and organisational skills
- Ability to perform root cause analyses and problem solve, particularly in ambiguous situations
- Meticulous, with high level of attention to detail
- Strong English verbal and written communication skills
