About this Role

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our expanding Finance team.  You will report to and work directly with the Accounts Payable Manager as a key member of the team responsible for the general accounting operations, and ad hoc finance initiatives to drive operational efficiency.  You will work closely and collaboratively with Finance team members and external accountants to ensure complete and accurate recording of financial transactions in accordance with the relevant accounting standards. As directed by the Senior Accountant, you will take a key role in monthly financial consolidation and management reporting, and the finalization of audited financial statements.

  • Accurate and complete of recording of expenses and revenues:
    • Maintain and update the group chart of accounts
    • Work collaboratively with Accounts Payable team to ensure all vendors’ invoices are recorded accurately into the Finance System
    • Prepare monthly accrual and prepayment lists, and liaise with external bookkeeper to record the transactions
    • Assist in review of monthly expenses
    • Prepare monthly expenses schedules for management review
    • Support Accounts Receivable transactional activities, including but not limited to review and record of sales, preparation of cash reconciliation to revenues, and other ad hoc or recurring analysis
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Support month-end close activities, including but not limited to: review and/or preparation of balance sheet schedules and reconciliations, preparation of other ad hoc and/or recurring analysis
    • Propose and document correct account policies/entries for operational/business activities that flow to accounting system
    • Preparation of consolidated financial statements for management review
    • Review the bank and intercompany reconciliations prepared by external bookkeepers, ensure unreconciling items are identified and properly recorded
    • Automate the monthly reporting manual task to reduce error rate and cycle time to close the accounts
  • Others:
    • Assist in documentation of existing processes and propose/support process improvements initiatives
    • Support any new accounting system implementations 
    • Assist in fulfilling audit and/or tax requirements if required
    • Assist in other ad hoc tasks and projects

To succeed in this role, we’d love for you to have experience in some or all of the following:

  • Diploma or degree holder in Finance or Accounting from accredited institution
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS or its equivalent)
  • At least 3 years hands-on experience in handling Accounting duties
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English
  • Proficiency in MS Office (or equivalent), for data analysis and presentations
  • A team player, able to build good relationships
  • Demonstrated ability for critical thinking with a solution mindset
  • Self-driven with strong attention to detail

Preferred Experience (Optional but valued) 

  • Conversational fluency in Cantonese (if based in HK) or Mandarin (if based in SG)
  • Knowledge in US GAAP financial statement
  • Prior 3 years+ experience in the big 4 audit firm 
  • Experience in Xero Accounting System
  • Experience with a technology company or service-based business
